This page contains lots of important info, please read it all carefully.
LOCATION
Summer Intention will be held at a beautiful location in Roberts Creek on the Sunshine Coast - The address and directions will be sent to all fully registered ticket holders.
RIDESHARE
Here's the rideshare board - if you have space in your vehicle PLEASE consider bringing someone else along!
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1wXduIwwjhubH7UxNsvhywILVBSABx2B1...
For people who would prefer to "foot passenger" to the Coast: you can look into “Coastal Rides”, a ride service on the Coast. https://coastalrides.ca/faq/
FERRY INFO
- BC Ferry fares (save on fares with an Experience Card or someone else’s) https://www.bcferries.com/files/fares/pdf_format/BCF_Fares.pdf
- BC Ferry departure, arrival and service notices for Sunshine Coast (be sure to select the correct date just above the schedule) http://www.bcferries.com/schedules/mainland/vasc-current.php
Please note bus and ferry times often change this time of year, so please make sure you are looking at the correct schedule!
Don't panic if there aren't any reservations available. Only half of each ferry is for reservations, the rest of the spaces are first come, first served. You can usually get on the ferry you want, but be prepared to wait one sailing.
ABOUT THE SITE
Here are the logistical things that you need to know about our site.
CELL PHONE COVERAGE: Cell phone reception at the location is spotty and works better in some areas than others. If you walk just downhill from the gate then you will be on the network pretty much for sure. Just do that every couple of hours and you should get all your texts :-)
WATER: There is a creek on-site, but drink it at your own risk, we recommend boiling it. Kitchen Pod will provide a large pot of boiled water at some times, please ask them first though. We advise you to bring your own drinking water with you.
FOOD: This year we are not providing food, but will facilitate some potluck-style sharing. Stay tuned for more info.
FOOD STORAGE: Remember, there are bears in this neighbourhood, you really do NOT want to keep food in or directly near your tent (the further back you are in the woods, the more this applies). We suggest having a small tupperware bin or similar (to keep out rodents and slugs) that you can keep in the kitchen area. Please be mindful that there will be many others doing the same so try to stash things in a way that leaves room for others, and doesn’t block others. If you have a cooler, one of the best places for it is down in the creekbed, partially submerged in the water (this is directly behind the kitchen, very handy). Placing a large rock on top of the cooler will deter any raccoons from getting in (they are rarely a problem at this site but we can’t guarantee that they aren’t around).
COOKING:
1) Please, no cooking anywhere except in the kitchen area, and no open flames of any sort outside of the kitchen area! The forest is very dry, and this is an explicit request from the landowner. (There is a designated smoking area with a water hose handy, open flames are allowed there too.)
2) There will be some communal stoves (propane and butane) set up in the “DIY Meal Prep Area” (if you know the venue, this is the area with tables and benches just outside of the kitchen island, but still under the tarp). This is right next to the venue's official kitchen, which we will not be using for this event.
3) For cooking your own food, if necessary, please bring your stove, if you have one, to the DIY Meal Prep Area; or use the few communal ones already there if you don't have one. We suggest that you clearly mark your stove, and if you have enough masking tape, also indicate if it’s there to share, or for your own use only. If the latter, we suggest that you put the stove away after use. Please clean up after yourself as much as possible!
4) Please, no cooking in the central kitchen proper, ie: around the “kitchen island”. We are not using this area for this event. Kindly use the DIY Meal Prep Area instead.
5) You can cook pretty much whatever you want, there will be no “meat-shaming” at Intention! and no "vegan-baiting" either, please and thank you! :-)
6) There is no potable water on site - bring your own water, or boil the creek water (via the communal stoves).
7) You may use the sink behind the venue's kitchen for washing dishes. It runs creek water from the faucet.
CAMPING: We'll share where you can camp when you check in at the gate, there's lots of space. For those who know the site, there's no camping in the upper field again this year. Don’t forget you’ll need to bring lots of things to be comfortable and happy, you can check out some suggestions at https://intentiongathering.org/summer_2025/what_to_bring
PARKING NOTES
Parking will be different from previous years at Summer Intention. This year, parking is available on site in the new parking lot.
IMPORTANT: There is to be absolutely no parking on the logging road outside of the venue; parking along the road will put the event at risk. Please only park where you have been instructed to park. If you’re not sure where to park, please find an organizer.
IMPORTANT: Camping with your vehicle next to your camping spot is not possible. You will be dropping your stuff off in the main area and then parking in one of the designated parking areas explained above. If you choose to camp in your vehicle in the new parking lot IN THE MAIN VENUE, that will work! This is not an option at the neighbour’s parking area.
That said, there is VERY LIMITED space for RVs/vans for people who MUST camp in them (e.g. people with mobility issues), please contact info[at]intentiongathering[dot]org ASAP to check in with us.
ACCESSIBILITY
This site is on a hillside and quite rugged and rough. All trails are dirt trails and most are fairly uneven. Currently Intention doesn't provide wheelchair accessible washroom facilities at this site, and the terrain would be very difficult to navigate in a wheelchair.
As mentioned above, we will have a few parking spots reserved closer to the eating, dancing and workshop areas for people who must camp in their vehicles, with preference given to those with mobility issues, but there is still a bit of a walk up a gravel road.
We would like to make our events as accessible as possible within the limitations of the venue. If you have any specific needs (i.e. you would require wheelchair accessible washrooms), please email info[at]intentiongathering[dot]org to discuss with our organizers how we might make improvements.
CONSENT CULTURE: Intention is a consent positive culture and we encourage those values wherever we can.
PARTICIPATION: Intention is co-created so we ask you to help out wherever there is need and contribute as you are inspired.
LEAVE NO TRACE: We hope to leave the land better than we found it. Please support Intention in being a Leave No Trace event and pack out what you brought in.
QUESTIONS? Email info[at]intentiongathering[dot]org and we'll do our best to answer.
We're looking forward to seeing you all soon!
ABOUT THIS LAND
We would like to acknowledge and bring attention to the fact that the land on which we will be gathering is the traditional, unceded and illegally occupied territory of the Shishá7lh (Sechelt) Nation.
We have tremendous gratitude for this land and everything that it provides, and invite awareness and consideration of how and why the people of the nation of Canada have access to all of its beauty and abundance. We always strive to leave no trace and to protect the land where we gather. This requires everyone to take part in this responsibility.
The history of the various Coast Salish tribes here is about 10,000 years old or more. We encourage participants at our gatherings to self-educate about the history of the land we live upon and its original peoples.
